Meet the Team: Marianne Murphy

The West of Scotland Innovation Hub has welcomed its newest eHealth Innovation team member.

After nearly a decade working in the innovation space with InnoScot Health, Marianne Murphy made the move over to the NHS, joining the Hub team as a Project Manager.

Despite already having a wealth of experience in the commercial space, Marianne is looking forward to the new challenge, putting a greater emphasis on more digital solutions.

She said: “In my last role, I noticed more and more projects that were coming through were digitally focused, app-based and with a greater focus on AI.

“I completed my Masters in Digital Health Systems at Strathclyde University his year and knew of the work that the Hub was doing, so this is a great chance for me to use the skills and experience I have gained.”

One of the key commercial projects Marianne worked on during her time with InnoScot Health, was SCRAM Bags, a portable airway equipment, which is aimed at reducing adverse events in emergency situations.

This was recently adopted, after rigorous test, by the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC) in Glasgow, specifically outside of its paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and theatre environments.

Marianne said: “During the project it went from one adult bag to becoming a solution that is starting to be used all over the world, seeing that level of impact is also something that really appeals to me.

“I want to work in innovation that helps everyone, across all of society, so I was really keen to join the Hub team and work within the NHS.”
