Phase 1 launch for three new SBRIs

Three new contracts to research innovation in diabetes treatment have been awarded.

Alpha Laboratories Ltd, Randox Laboratories Ltd Remote HbA1c Remote Monitoring and Red Star AI Ltd have all been successful in their SBRI bids to develop remote HbA1c testing.

Alpha Laboratories Ltd will work with the North of Scotland Innovation Hub and NHS Grampian to develop an integrated solution driving improved care for young adult diabetics.

Randox Laboratories Ltd will investigate remote HbA1c monitoring while RedStar AI Ltd will seek to developing a virtual care model for diabetes within the West of Scotland Innovation Hub testbed.

Both SBRIs will focus on the NHS Lanarkshire catchment area.

The challenge was launched in March 2023 and the Phase 1 feasibility projects by Randox Laboratories Ltd and RedStar AI Ltd will began on Monday December 4. These will run for three months, after which some projects will be taken forward to a 12-month product development project.

Patients the focus of new iCARE programme
